Four prospective Conservative councillors for Skelmersdale have slammed the town's Labour councillors for talking down the area - and urged locals to vote for positive change.
Amanda Shaw, James Trafford, Bill Weingart and Amanda Kay are contesting the Moorside, Skelmersdale South, Tanhouse and Ashurst wards respectively on May 22.
Together, they have pledged to work tirelessly as local community champions.
James, who is standing in Skelmersdale South, said: "Voting Conservative will send a strong message to the complacent and out of touch Labour councillors who have taken Skelmersdale for granted."
Amanda Kay, who is the Conservative candidate for Ashurst, said: "Skelmersdale has a lot going for it - fantastic open spaces, improved leisure facilities and falling unemployment. It's time local people had ward councillors who stood up for them instead of talking them and the town down."Moorside candidate Amanda Shaw said: "Skelmersdale has so much going for it - fantastic open spaces, improved leisure facilities, falling unemployment and a great business district. Spreading the word and encouraging others to do the same will attract more investment and to which I'm fully committed."
Bill, who is standing in Tanhouse, said: "Conservatives are fixing the mess left by the Labour Party. Skelmersdale now has falling unemployment and we are giving people who were parked in benefits by Labour the opportunity of getting into employment.
"We are ending Labour's something for nothing culture and the hardworking people of Skelmersdale are fully behind us."Pictured from left are Bill Weingart (Tanhouse), Amanda Shaw (Moorside), James Trafford (Skelmersdale South) and Amanda Kay (Ashurst).
