Conservative Council’s £7k boost for West Lancs community groups and individuals

Community groups and individuals across West Lancashire have been given almost £7,000 worth of funding by the Conservative Borough Council. The full amounts awarded from the latest round of the Council’s Community Chest applications are as follows:

  • Be-D-Stressed Training, Skelmersdale - £700
  • Haskayne and Downholland Community Association - £400
  • Marlborough Court Residents Association, Skelmersdale - £307
  • 1026 (Ormskirk) Squadron - £300
  • Lost Future Crew - £650
  • Village Chatt - £500
  • Ormskirk Youth Hub/Lunchtime Youth Hub Holiday Club - £700
  • Onevoice West Lancashire - £650
  • Rachel Baughen - £250
  • Ellie Ogaza - £250
  • Skelmersdale North JFC - £500
  • MITCH FC - £250
Cllr David Sudworth, Conservative Group spokesman for leisure, said: "I am pleased that, once again, this Conservative council is able to support local individuals and community organisations.There were some excellent bids from right across West Lancashire - including Ormskirk, Burscough, Skelmersdale, Haskayne and Downholland - and I hope this cash boost will help the groups and individuals involved. Despite tough times, and the Labour Group’s call to axe the Community Chest altogether, we are determined to do all we can to provide appropriate assistance to the voluntary community.”
