On Sunday 5th May the West Lancs Social Action Team tidied up a section of untidy land on Burscough’s Station Approach near Tesco’s. The project came from an initial suggestion from The Grove and Burscough East Councillor Ruth Melling. The team was made up of local residents including some Burscough Scouts.
Edward McCarthy Co-organiser said “The day was a great success. Thank you to everyone who took part. The idea now is to clear the area further, make it into a nice area for people to sit down in and for children to use. We spent the day tidying up the front section of the land and then we then planted bedding plants kindly donated by Tesco’s in Burscough who were keen to support the project. We would like to thank everyone who came and took part, the area looks a lot better. We would like to thank Tesco for the plants and thank West Lancs Borough Council who supplied much of the equipment we used on the day.”
Sue Murrin-Bailey Co-organiser said “It is amazing how a handful of people from the community pulling together for 3 hours can improve an area for the whole community. Well done and thank you to all who helped."
There will be further work on this land in Burscough and future events organised by the West Lancs Social Action team in the summer in other parts of West Lancashire. Please call Edward on 07971 299606 or Sue on 077677 95451 to get involved or email [email protected]
