Edward McCarthy who is the Skelmersdale West division County Council candidate in this year’s elections is to be the candidate for Digmoor in the by election to be held on polling day for the Digmoor ward.Conservative controlled West Lancs Borough Council is investing in new blue recycling bins for residents and improvements to public open spaces in Skelmersdale. Council Tax has also been frozen for the fourth year in a row by West Lancs Borough Council, there has also been a 2% reduction in council tax by Lancashire County Council.
There will also be improvements in Ormskirk and the expansion of CCTV across West Lancashire. In Skelmersdale, the area behind the library will be tidied up and there will be new seating to make it more attractive, as well as undertaking some necessary repairs.
West Lancs Borough Council are setting up a scheme to fund up to £1m of improvements to commercial properties, which include industrial units and retail units in Skelmersdale. This aims to create jobs for West Lancashire by attracting new businesses to the area and encouraging existing ones to expand. West Lancs Borough Council will invest £50,000 for works aimed at preventing flooding on roads and underpasses in Skelmersdale over the next three years. West Lancs Borough Council will invest £24,000 for improving the area in front of Skelmersdale War Memorial.
This shows that despite tough times, Conservatives are working hard and delivering investment into Skelmersdale.
