Residents who want to give their views on an item on a Borough Council agenda are being reminded that they have that chance.
People living in West Lancashire have the chance to speak on certain agenda items at Council meetings where important decisions are made that affect people across the borough.
In addition to those arrangements already in place for speaking at Planning and Licensing Committees, there is also an opportunity to speak on items being considered at meetings of Cabinet, Audit & Governance Committee, Standards Committee and Overview and Scrutiny Committees.
Dates of forthcoming meetings are:
- Cabinet, Tuesday 10 January, 7pm
- Executive Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Thursday 26 January, 7pm
- Audit & Governance Committee, Tuesday 31 January, 6.30pm
Agendas for these meetings will usually be published on the Council’s website in the week preceding the meeting. For example the agenda for the January Executive Overview and Scrutiny Committee will be published on Wednesday, 18 January.
However, due to the Christmas period the agenda for January’s Cabinet meeting will appear on the Council’s website on Thursday 22 December.
To request to speak, members of the public must contact Member Services with their request by 5pm on the Thursday of the week preceding the meeting. For example a request to speak at January Cabinet must reach us by 5pm on Thursday 5 January. The request can be submitted by email to [email protected] or by sending to: Member Services, West Lancashire Borough Council, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, West Lancashire, L39 2DF.
Full details of the arrangements are provided in the Council’s Public Speaking Protocol which can be found at speaking at meetings of Cabinet and committees.
