The man bidding to become Lancashire's first Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner held a question and answer session with local residents.
Tim Ashton, who is the party's candidate for the November 15th elections, was welcomed to West Lancashire by the Borough's Conservative Councillors including Cllr David Sudworth, who is the Conservative Cabinet Member for Community Safety on the Borough Council.
Tim, who is a Lancashire County Councillor, gave an outline of his priorities to make West Lancashire an even safer place before taking part in a question and answer session.
The event took place at Briars Hall, Lathom, on Thursday.
Tim said: "I was delighted to meet West Lancashire residents and councillors and talk to them about my vision to make West Lancashire an even safer place.
"I am determined to work with all the community - from the voluntary and faith sectors to residents and businesses - to ensure we have an effective police force which delivers results and taxpayer value for money."
Burscough Borough Cllr Ruth Melling said: "It was great to welcome Tim to West Lancashire. The Police and Crime Commissioner elections are vitally important. Tim set out his priorities, which included working with communities, listening to their concerns and tackling the bureaucracy which mounted up under Labour."
Cllr Sudworth added: "Generally, West Lancashire is a safe place but there are issues in certain areas which need to be tackled head on.
"Under Labour, police officers spent vast amounts of time sitting behind desks filling out forms rather than out on the streets tackling crime.
"I look forward to working alongside Tim in making West Lancashire an even safer place by tackling bureaucracy and delivering real results for residents."
