IT was one of New Labour's best known mantras - but have the party's councillors in Skelmersdale now ditched "education, education, education"?
Conservative County Cllr David O'Toole is posing the question after being met with a wall of silence from new Labour councillors, whom he asked to consider becoming school governors.
Cty Cllr O'Toole represents West Lancashire South and is the school governor co-ordinator for West Lancashire.
He explained: "I sent a request for school governors to the Labour Group and its newly elected Skelmersdale members several weeks ago and to date have not received a single reply.
"There are always a number of LEA vacancies for school governorships in Skelmersdale and, as the local co-ordinator, felt it only right and proper that I inform Skelmersdale Labour councillors in the hope of them accepting some of the roles on offer.
"I am therefore disappointed not to have received a single enquiry from a new Labour Group councillor.
"I thought Labour once believed in 'education, education, education' - obviously that is another policy they have ditched as they seek to distance themselves from the disastrous New Labour years."
