Homes in Old Skelmersdale are being improved as part of a £500,000-plus investment by the Conservative Borough Council.
Work is currently underway on flats in Whitburn and Waverley, which includes new insultation, roofing, fascias, windows and new doors, where there is open access. Full tenant and leaseholder consultation was undertaken before works started, with the colour of the fascias and cladding being chosen by residents themselves.
The total investment by the Conservative council in 43 blocks at Whitburn and Waverley comes to £537,000.
David Gallagher, Conservative candidate for Skelmersdale South Ward, said: "This is excellent news for the residents of Whitburn and Waverley. The improvements are already having a positive effect on the area, and many residents have commented to me just how pleased they are with them.
"This shows that even though we are in tough economic times, through careful management of taxpayers' hard earned money, the Conservative-controlled Borough Council is continuing to invest in Skelmersdale.
"Since the Conservatives took over the running of the council from Labour, there has been significant improvements in Skelmersdale South, with brand new pitches at Blaguegate, investment in our local roads and a completely revamped Stanley Coronation Park.
"There are now plans by the Conservative County Council working in partnership with the Conservative Borough Council for improvements to the Sandy Lane area, including possible new landscaping near the war memorial and free trees or hanging baskets for residents."
Cllr Val Hopley, Conservative housing spokesman, added: "I am delighted the Conservative council is investing in Whitburn and Waverley. These improvements demonstrate we are committed to improving standards for residents across Skelmersdale and West Lancashire as a whole."
