Conservatives have secured action to remove flytipping from a derelict farm site in Skelmersdale.
Cindy Miller, Conservative campaigner for Moorside, worked alongside colleagues to raise concerns about the old Sutches Farm site on Castlehey, Clay Brow.
This issue was taken up with the Borough Council who in turn contacted the owner to demand action. And last Tuesday, as a result of pressure by local Conservatives, workers were onsite to clear it of flytipped items.
Cindy, a Skelmersdale resident for over 30 years, said: "I am delighted that our concerns have been taken on board and the owner of this private site arranged for the fly tipping to be removed.
"Sutches Farm was once a lovely site and in the 1970s was a venue for numerous playschemes run by West Lancs Play Association but in the last few years it has literally been reduced to a pile of bricks and also become a magnet for fly tipping.
"It is really sad as the site has huge potential, and I understand there were plans a few years ago to redevelop it, but nothing transpired.
"The residents of Castlehey have seen this site go from being a jewel in Skelmersdale's crown to being a blot on the landscape, and I urge the owners to bring plans forward as quickly as possible to make proper use of this site."
