Local Conservative Candidates Thomas Burton (Derby Ward) and Edward McCarthy (Knowsley Ward) are calling for the installation of bins and a regular cleaning schedule for the path between Ormskirk’s Train Station and Bus Station to combat the growing issue of litter.
Thomas Burton said, “We recently conducted a litter pick along the path that leads from Ormskirk Bus Station to the Train Station collecting a large amount of rubbish. Although the litter pick serves as a short term solution to the growing problem it highlights the lack of bins provided which leads to people littering. It is important that this area is kept free of litter as this can often be people’s first impressions of Ormskirk when they get off the train or bus.”
Thomas continued by saying, “The way to solve this is for Network Rail and the Borough Council to work together to install bins along this path which are regularly emptied. We have contacted Network Rail numerous times already about this issue and it is time they solved this ongoing issue and improved the appearance of the area.”
