An MP who hit the national headlines recently was guest speaker at West Lancashire Conservative Association's annual dinner on Saturday night.
Paul Maynard MP joined party members at Briars Hall, Lathom, for the black tie event. Paul won his seat of Blackpool North & Cleveleys at last year's General Election.
Last month Paul, who has cerebral palsy, hit the headlines after he revealed he had been mocked about his disability by Labour MPs.
The event saw a good turnout in what was Mrs Jenni Mayer's last official event as Association Chairman. She is stepping down after a successful three years in the role.
Mrs Mayer said: "We were delighted to welcome Paul Maynard MP to West Lancashire. He gave a fascinating talk about life at Westminster and how he has battled his disability to represent his constituents in the House of Commons.
"My three years as Association Chairman have been extremely eventful and of course we had a General Election in that time in which our candidate, Adrian Owens, worked tirelessly and cut Labour's majority. We have also brought through a number of younger councillors and candidates who will take the party forward in the future.
"I would like thank everyone who has worked with my closely over the past three years, especially my husband Martin who acted as Adrian's agent during the General Election and has been a tower of strength to me."
