Postal Voting.
Postal votes can be sent anywhere, either inside or outside the UK (if, for example, you are going on holiday). Remember, though, that if the address is outside the UK it will take time to reach you and for you to return it in order for your vote to be counted.
If you move you must tell the Electoral Registration Officer immediately, or you may lose your postal vote.
Please remember that there is always a last day to receive postal vote applications, or to change your voting arrangements, in time for a particular election (11 working days before an election day).
Proxy Votes.
A proxy voter is someone who you appoint to vote on your behalf if you can't get to the polling station on election day. If you decide to appoint a proxy you must find someone who is willing to vote for you. Application forms are available online or by phone:
- Downloading a form.
- Ordering a form online from West Lancs Borough Council.
- Ordering a form by emailing the elections team [email protected] or calling 01695 585014
Please remember that there is always a last day to receive proxy vote applications in time for a particular election (6 working days before election day). However, in cases where unforeseen illness or incapacity occurs, applications may be made up until 5.00pm on election day.
Note: if you wish to change your voting arrangements, for example cancel your postal vote and appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf the deadline is 11 working days before the election.
