Edward McCarthy Conservative Candidate for Knowsley Ward is calling for urgent investment in some of Ormskirk’s roads.
Edward says: “According to an email from Lancashire County Council’s Transport Councillor Cllr Fillis two of the worst roads in the ward are only being CONSIDERED for resurfacing in 2017-18. Both roads have repeatedly had potholes filled in again and again. They require a full resurfacing NOW. Many residents have contacted myself and LCC about the roads. Many have contacted me about damage to their vehicles. I would urge the council to bring forward these resurfacing schemes. I would like to see figures relating to the costs of resurfacing, the costs of repeatedly filling in each pothole and how much compensation has been paid out already relating to both roads.”
He added: “The Government created a Pothole Action Fund with a budget of £250 million dedicated to delivering better journeys. I would urge Lancashire County Council to tap into the millions of pounds which have been set aside for potholes to make much needed repairs in the Ormskirk area. The money is there from the Government waiting to be spent.”
