On Saturday 6th April the Skelmersdale Coronation Park Tidy Up took place. Local residents and the Tawd Vale Lions took part in the event organised by West Lancs Social Action Team together with the West Lancs Borough Council Park Ranger’s Team took part. The team tidied up the park and removed lots of litter and also dug up 5 trees which sadly had been vandalised. These will be replaced. The park had improvements last year.
Edward McCarthy Co-organiser said “The morning was a great success. Thank you to everyone who took part. The park is an important part of the local community, everyone can do there bit to keep it tidy, using the bins provided and cleaning up after your dog. There are many free events organised by the Park Ranger’s Team which take place often. Support your parks by attending these events, there are events in April and May.”
Sue Murrin-Bailey Co-organiser said “What we would love to see happen for the forthcoming projects is local Primary Schools, Scouts/Guides, Church and Community groups helping us for half an hour or so on the day but getting involved at the planning stages so they can be involved with what they would like to see in their area. This is an investment for everyone to be able to enjoy public spaces in their community now and in future years.”
There will be future events organised by the West Lancs Social Action team in the summer in Burscough, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale and other parts of West Lancashire. Starting with 5th May 2013. Please call Edward on 07971 299606 or Sue on 077677 95451 to get involved.
