The winning design was chosen by children from St Anne’s and Aughton Christ Church schools were consulted for their ideas.
Works were scheduled for mid September to cause minimum disruption during the very busy summer months with a view for the task to be completed as early as possible in October.
Following consultation with the residents of Westhead new equipment will soon be installed on Westhead playing field. This will compliment the existing equipment with priority towards the under 13 age range. Tree planting and creation of an access footpath around the edge of the field will also be installed. Work is scheduled to begin by mid–October. Children from Lordsgate Primary School in Burscough have provided ideas for the new 5-8’s play area in Richmond Park, Burscough the designs of which have now been submitted by a selection of Play Companies.
The children will have an opportunity to vote for the design they like best. It is intended for the successful Play Company to begin installation by the end of October.
Conservative Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said "I am really pleased we are looking to do these schemes for children in different parts of West Lancashire and I am sure that many will have a great time playing on the new equipment.”
Councillor Martin Forshaw, portfolio holder for Planning and Development, added: “I am very pleased we have been able to provide exciting new play equipment for children to enjoy."
