A father-of-two who works in the NHS has been chosen as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for West Lancashire at next year's General Election.Paul Greenall was chosen by party members at a meeting on Saturday morning at The Grove Community Centre in Burscough.
Paul, 47, lives in the constituency, in Westhead Village, with his wife Louise and sons George and Henry.Paul has been a West Lancashire Borough Councillor for Derby Ward, where he lives, since 2001. He was the Mayor of West Lancashire in 2012/13 and in May became the deputy leader of West Lancashire Borough Council.
At the 2010 General Election, he was the Conservative candidate for St Helens North and has also stood previously as a County Council candidate in Skelmersdale.Paul, who hails from Kirkby and is a foundation governor at Ormskirk School, said: "I am honoured to be chosen as the Conservative candidate for the area where I have lived for the past 15 years."I am passionate about West Lancashire and public service - it is a privilege to serve and that is one thing which I never forget."This General Election is about who we want to lead the country and who will be West Lancashire's voice in Westminster. I have a record of action in West Lancashire spanning many years, and if elected will do my utmost to fight for West Lancashire to ensure we get the best deal possible."
Bill Weingart, West Lancashire Conservative Association chairman, said: "Paul is a first class candidate who I know will work tirelessly to deliver a Conservative victory for West Lancashire."Cllr David Westley, Conservative leader of West Lancashire Borough Council, said: "Having worked closely with Paul, I know how diligent and committed he is. It's important we have a Conservative MP working closely with a Conservative-run borough council which, together, will deliver for the whole of West Lancashire."
