Local Conservative Candidates Thomas Burton (Derby Ward) and Edward McCarthy (Knowsley Ward) are pleased with progress about the on going issue of litter on the path between the railway and bus station.
There is now a commitment from Network Rail for the busy pathway between Ormskirk railway and bus stations to be regularly cleaned. The site is now part of a four week cleaning and maintenance schedule, and in the last week, it's carried out a clean-up along the pathway to kick off the new maintenance commitment.
Edward McCarthy said: “This is welcome news but it highlights the lack of bins provided which leads to people littering. It is important that this area is kept free of litter as this can often be people’s first impressions of Ormskirk when they get off the train or bus. The way to solve this issue is for Network Rail and local Government to work together to install bins along this path which are regularly emptied."
