The old play area on Tanfields has been transformed following consultation with local people. It now boasts a play area for younger children, a Multi Use Games Area and a skateboard park.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Conservative leisure spokesman, said: "It's great news that children and families on New Church Farm will benefit from this new facility. The old park was in a very bad way and this is a significant improvement.
"As local Conservatives, we are committed to investing in Skelmersdale. The new park on Tanfields follows significant investment in Skelmersdale leisure facilities by the Conservative-run Borough Council and its partners in recent years, including a new roof on Nye Bevan pool, and new play facilities in Summer Street, Ashurst; Banksbarn, Digmoor, Ennerdale, Tanhouse, Inglewhite, Birch Green; Fairburn/Fairhaven and next to The Greenhill Community Centre, Beech Close.
"We also have exciting plans for Stanley Coronation Park in Sandy Lane which the Borough Council's officers are working hard on with the council's partners to ensure residents in Skelmersdale continue to enjoy first class facilities on their doorstep."
