Ormskirk's outdoor gym is the place to visit to work off those Easter eggs. The new gym, opened as part of the Conservative council's commitment to continuing improvement of our parks and open spaces, is free to use. What's more the council's leisure officers are running guided sessions starting this Wednesday, May 4th between 11.30 am and 2.30pm.
The sessions will last for ten weeks and are completely free of charge. All ages are welcome and encouraged to get involved and improve their strength, flexibility, balance and co-ordination. For more information, call Sarah Lee at West Lancs BC Sports Development on 01695 555570.
The outdoor gym is the first of three with others planned for Stanley Coronation Park in Skelmersdale and Burscough's Richmond Park.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, portfolio holder for leisure said, "The inception of this scheme came from me watching a BBC breakfast article on outdoor gyms in January of last year. I secured extra support from the local strategic partnership, and the local NHS has part-funded the projects along with the council. The weather at the moment is excellent, so why not visit Coronation Park and try the gym out."
Following substantial investment from the Conservative council, Coronation Park has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag.
