Major improvements have taken place at an Up Holland community hub thanks to a £1,000 cash boost from local Conservatives.
Local County Councillor Carolyn Evans, supported by Up Holland Borough Councillor Ruth Pollock, has allocated £1,000 to resurface the car park at Crawford Village Hall.
County Cllr Evans said: The village hall is a real hub for the community, even more so since the Crawford Arms pub closed. The hall is currently used by the Young Farmers, and a couple of football clubs at the weekend.
"By resurfacing the car park, it now gives the Village Hall Committee more chance to market the hall to other community groups, such as pensioner groups, coffee mornings and playgroups.
Up Holland Borough Cllr Ruth Pollock added: "I am delighted that by working with Conservative colleagues, we have been able to deliver these much needed improvements for the Village Hall. I'm now planning to hold a coffee morning there in the future to ask villagers how they would like to see the hall developing.
"I'm also fighting hard bring a defibrillator to the area. Research from The Heart Foundation revealed that if a person collapses and is seen within the first 10 to 15 minutes, their chance of survival is far greater. With this in mind, I am determined to have one available in Up Holland for every resident to have access to should it be needed, and am working with the Mayoress of West Lancashire to make this happen."
