Conservative Borough Councillor Ruth Pollock has welcomed the installation of new recycling bins outside Up Holland High School.
The new bins, which have also been installed in other areas including Ormskirk and Skelmersdale, allow residents to separate their waste which in turn will help boost recycling rates. Up until now, only household waste presented at the kerbside could be recycled.
Cllr Pollock, who is also a governor at Up Holland High School and a parish councillor in the village, said: "These have been warmly welcomed by people in Up Holland. Recycling is very important and, in the past 10 years, thanks to the commitment and investment from Conservative-controlled West Lancashire Borough Council, recycling rates have increased enormously.
"These new bins will allow people to discard their waste in an even more environmentally friendly way and that is good news."
