Despite a tough financial climate, almost £150,000 a year is being made available to groups including Age Concern, the Citizens' Advice Bureau, West Lancs Council for Voluntary Service, West Lancs Disability Helpline, South & West Lancashire Foodbank, Relate and Victim Support.
The funding is for three years and to ensure taxpayer value for money, grant recipients must provide satisfactory financial statements, a business plan and health & safety/equal opportunities policies.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Conservative spokesman for Community Services and Health, said: "I am delighted we are able to continue our strong support for the voluntary sector in West Lancashire . This is in stark contrast to Labour-run authorities which are cutting spending to voluntary groups in parts of the country.
"As Conservatives, we recognise the valuable work voluntary groups do, providing much needed support for people across all parts of West Lancashire ."
Cllr David Westley, Conservative finance spokesman, said: "Labour's legacy of debt means that many councils are now feeling the pinch, and will do for many years to come.
"However, since the Conservatives took control of West Lancashire in 2002, we have paid off the debts left to us by the previous Labour administration and managed taxpayers' money carefully.
"This could not have been done if Labour had still been in control of the council. Their mantra of spend, spend, spend without making sure the books were balanced saw local residents hit with a Council Tax increases of around 15% one year.
"Whilst the Conservatives are in control of West Lancashire , we will continue to do all we can to protect vital services without resorting to a Labour-style raid on hardpressed families' savings."
