West Lancashire Borough Council has been working hard to support the Environment Agency, the Police, Lancashire County Council and emergency services with regard to flooding which has affected parts of the borough, and the county as a whole.
The Council has been providing advice and appropriate support to residents including street cleansing, and will be assisting with the collection of flood damaged materials in the worst hit parts of the borough. The Council can also provide emergency accommodation to affected residents if required. While more rain is expected in the next 24 hours current advice from the Met Office is that this isn’t likely to be as heavy as that of Boxing Day. However this may change and residents are advised to monitor weather reports for their area.
The government has indicated that funding for residents and businesses who experienced flooding to the internal parts of their properties caused by the Boxing Day storm event will be available to those affected in West Lancashire. The Council is awaiting more details of this scheme and these will be announced when they are available.
