Many West Lancashire residents, including councillors and candidates came to have their say on flooding and find out more about the support available, at community roadshows around Lancashire.
The drop-in sessions provided an opportunity for local people to inform Flood Risk Management of their experiences. This would help to identify the extent and cause of local flooding and inform recovery work.
The Environment Agency, Lancashire County Council, Lancashire Fire and Rescue and West Lancs Borough Council were at the roadshow in Ormskirk on the 1st February, with another taking place in Parbold on the 25th January. These particular locations were chosen as they are in the most densely populated areas affected by residential flooding.
Edward McCarthy (Knowsley ward 2016 Candidate) said: “The event was very well run and a good idea at this point in time. Residents took the time to come today and voice their concerns. It was useful to see United Utilities and the Environment Agency plotting each home that was flooded on their maps. If residents did not report their individual flooding case, I urge them to do so. Their collective experiences will help the agencies responsible for flood risk management in their future planning.”
