Council tax has been frozen for the sixth financial year in a row by Conservative-led West Lancashire Borough Council.
In a budget agreed by full council last night (Wednesday 25 February), plans were also unveiled for:
- CCTV in Castlehey, Tanfields and Burscough Street
- New facilities at the Robert Hodge Centre on Stanley Industrial Estate, Skelmersdale
- Improvements to Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk and the entry road to Beacon Park in Dalton
- New allotments in Skelmersdale
- More improvements in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale town centres
- Better car parking facilities near Ruff Wood in Ormskirk
Conservative council leader Cllr David Westley said: "Due to the political balance of the council, this year's budget was tough but we've managed to deliver a number of important items."
"Residents will be delighted that we've once again frozen council tax for the sixth consecutive financial year, and agreed a budget which protects services."
"Moreover, we've allocated monies for investment in places such as Ormskirk and Skelmersdale, with schemes for new allotments, CCTV and general environmental improvements."
"This shows that, despite these tough times, Conservatives will continue working hard to deliver quality and affordable public services."
