Teamwork between two Conservative campaigners in Ormskirk has resulted in a promise of action from rail chiefs. Wooden fencing on the railway bridge on Bridge Street on Ormskirk has been damaged since last year. Exasperated residents turned to Knowsley Ward Conservative candidate Edward McCarthy and Derby Ward Conservative Cllr Paul Greenall for help. The bridge straddles the boundary of both wards.
They reported the matter to the bridge owners Network Rail who have now promised to take action.
Edward said: “According to Network rail the work on the bridge is programmed into their works schedule for this financial year. I am pressing them to let residents know in advance the dates of this work as it will cause inconvenience. I'm also pressing them to tidy the path between Ormskirk Railway and Bus stations which is a mess. It doesn't give good first impressions of Ormskirk”.
Cllr Greenall added: "This is a good example of local Conservatives in action, helping to make sure Ormskirk remains a clean and tidy place to live. Let's hope Network Rail take their responsibility seriously and maintain the footpath linking Ormskirk station with the town."
Promoted by Graham Jones on behalf of Edward McCarthy and Paul Greenall, both of WLCA, 72C New Court Way, Ormskirk, Lancs L39 2YT.
