As summer turns to autumn there are plenty of exciting free events for people to enjoy in West Lancashire’s parks in September.
Don’t miss the Beautiful Berries walk at Coronation Park in Ormskirk on Saturday 6 September between 2pm and 4pm. After meeting at the bowling pavilion, the ranger and a foraging expert will take visitors on a stroll to collect berries and show them how to make cordials and jellies.
The following day on Sunday 7 September keen walkers can stride out on the Hunters Hill Circular Walk, starting from the Hunter’s Hill car park, Bannister Lane, Hilldale, at 10am. The walk will take between two and three hours and is likely to cover six to eight miles.
On Sunday 20 September volunteers can help clean up the area around the Chequer Lane fishing Lake and picnic area from 10am onwards. At 6pm on the same day nature lovers can get close to some of the smallest animals living in Coronation Park, Ormskirk, on the creepy crawly night walk.
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “The summer may be over but there is still plenty to do in our parks so make sure you come along and enjoy the events we have planned.”
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all events. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather and ground conditions. As well as these events the regular health walks take place every week. On Tuesdays the walks start from Richmond Park bowling pavilion, Burscough, at 10am, and on Wednesdays they start from Coronation Park bowling pavilion, Ormskirk, at 1pm. The health walks are open to all – no bookings required! Our GP Referral Officers will soon be leading new Health Walks in the Banks area. For more information, please call 01695 555804.
