Britain is recovering. Record numbers are in work. Living standards are rising. Taxes are falling.
So why risk it on Ed Miliband and the Labour Party? The budget underlined that this is the critical choice at the election in May.
As in previous years, working people are rewarded with further tax cuts for 27 million and a continuing freeze on petrol duty. Petrol at the pump is now 20p cheaper than under Labour’s plans.
We also saw prudent savers being rewarded with some brilliant new initiatives, including a special ISA for people saving towards a deposit for their own home – every saving of £200 will be topped up by another £50. A new personal savings allowance will remove up to 1.85 million people in the North West from paying tax on their savings, rewarding those who are putting money aside for the future.
Meanwhile, investment continues apace, with capital money identified for broadband improvements for small businesses, improvements to major roads in the North West and young innovative tech businesses.
Perhaps most importantly, Conservatives are committed to running a budget surplus after 2017 – something that Labour are not committed to doing. Ever.
The choice in May is simple. Vote for the Conservatives to complete the long term economic plan that is working. Or turn back to Labour and their SNP colleagues and set the clock back to 2008.
And remember, here in West Lancs – vote for Rosie Cooper and wake up with Ed Miliband and Alex Salmond.
