The new look bridge on Bridge Street Ormskirk reopened recently following recent repairs.
The new bridge is no longer made of wood so should be stronger and last longer, high winds a few years ago caused the previous damage.
Edward McCarthy Conservative Candidate for Knowsley Ward said: "It is great to see the bridge open again, the bridge looks a lot better and should last a long time. I believe persist contact with Network Rail from politicians of all parties has finally paid off. It is hoped that drivers avoid using the bridge as a cut through and keep to the speed limit. I am going to contact Network Rail though as the area around the bridge has lots of litter, building materials, fly tipping left behind which all need tidying up. There are also some sections which look unfinished. That said the end is in sight. Perhaps now Network Rail can work on their outstanding issues in the Ormskirk area like all the fly tipping on their land alongside their embankment on Railway Rd for instance. It is hoped that drivers avoid using the bridge as a cut through and keep to the speed limit."
