Following on from previous articles regarding flooding on the fields to the rear of Altys Lane, Derby ward councllor, Cllr David Sudworth has now received an latest update from Lancashire County Council.
'I am pleased to report that, following pressure from myself, funding has now been allocated to undertake CCTV surveys of the drainage system in the Altys Lane area, not just the fields themselves. The County Council sent me the following information by way of explanation: "This information is considered necessary in order to obtain an overall picture from which a considered judgement can take place."
"Colleagues within the flood Risk Management Team feel that to undertake works in isolation on Altys Lane playing field at this stage would be premature. I would tend to agree with them on this point. There is a wider picture that needs to be considered here in order to prevent a solution to one problem giving rise to another problem.
“From the above I hope you can see that the flooding issue at Altys Lane is being given the consideration that it warrants and that it is not a case of inactivity.
"Unfortunately obtaining all this information does take time. An update should have been provide to yourself and for this I apologise but upon the results of the CCTV survey being received and discussed with the Flood Risk Management Team I will contact you again.” '
