As the summer weather hopefully arrives, there is plenty of summer events organised by Conservative controlled West Lancs Borough Council to go to.
The hugely popular annual Green Fayre is due to return to Beacon Country Park on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July. The Fayre returns in great style and thousands of people are expected to flock to the park and enjoy this celebration of countryside life, organised by West Lancashire Borough Council.
With attractions ranging from climbing walls to woodland crafts demonstrations there really is be something for all the family. Derby Ward Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Health and Leisure, said: “The Green Fayre is the annual highlight of our countryside calendar. The show is jam-packed full of displays showcasing a wonderful array of traditional skills and products. I would urge everyone not to miss out on this thoroughly enjoyable event.”
A variety of exciting shows are planned for the arena including dog display teams, birds of prey demonstrations and Viking battles.There will be traders and attractions throughout the show including plenty of rides and stalls to keep the children amused. The event will run each day from 11am to 5pm and admission and parking is free.
Music will fill the air in Ormskirk’s Coronation Park too during weekends in July and August as local bands perform a series of summer concerts.
There will be Pop groups entertaining the crowds on Saturdays and the sounds of brass bands will be heard on Sundays.The free concerts have been arranged by the West Lancashire Borough Council rangers. They all take place between 2pm and 4pm at the park’s bandstand.
